  • Newly appointed permanent employees will be placed on probation for the initial six (6) months of employment. During this period, the employee will accrue vacation and sick leave and other fringe benefits, but will not be eligible to take leave. Upon satisfactory completion of the probationary period, the employee will gain permanent status and be eligible for all the benefits and privileges awarded permanent employees. If the probationary employee fails to meet required standards of performance, employment will be terminated, or if the individual is a promoted regular employee, the individual may be restored to the classification and position from which he or she was promoted or to a comparable position. An employee in probationary status may be terminated at any time without cause or at the department head's discretion, they can extend the probationary period. This period should not exceed one year.
