§ 12-30. Definitions.

  • For the purpose of this section, the following terms shall have the respective meanings ascribed to them:

    Bicycle: Unless otherwise specified, shall include motor bike or motor scooter, and shall mean any two- or three-wheeled vehicle whether motor-powered or self-propelled. (It is not intended by the addition of this subsection to remove "bicycle," "motor bike," or "motor scooter" from the definition below as a "vehicle").

    Director: The director of the city park and recreation department, the person in charge of recreation areas serving the city, or other appropriate person.

    Park: Any public park, public playground, public recreational center or any other area in the jurisdiction of this article devoted to active or passive public recreation, including those portions of the Spring Park Pond and Spring Creek area in the immediate vicinity of such public recreational areas. In addition, this definition shall include, but not be limited to, those parks specifically enumerated in sections 12-20 and 12-21 hereof and designated as public parks, as well as any property belonging to the City of Tuscumbia not otherwise designated or dedicated as a public park in sections 12-20 and 12-21 hereof, but owned by the city and utilized or required to be utilized, whether on a full or part time basis, for any of the park purposes enumerated above.

    Park ranger: Any employee of the park and recreation department charged with public relations, providing information to the public, and oversight and general caretaking functions in city parks and public recreation areas.

    Vehicle: Any wheeled conveyance, whether motor-powered, animal-drawn, or self-propelled. The term shall include any trailer in tow regardless of the size or description. Provided, however, baby carriages or vehicles in the service of the park and recreation administrative or supervisor authority are not included within this definition.
