§ 15-6. Same—Application for permit; deposit.

  • Any person desiring a permit from the city to cut or make an opening in or excavation under any street, sidewalk or alley in the city, shall file with the city clerk a written application which shall state the location, the nature and extent of the opening or excavation to be made, the work to be done, and the nature of the surface of the street or sidewalk to be opened; and with such application shall deposit an amount sufficient to provide for the cost of refilling such opening and replacing any paving or sidewalk, or both, thereon. The application shall also indicate the time and manner in which such work shall be done. The nonrefundable deposit shall be three hundred dollars ($300.00) for each cutting from the side to the middle of any street; three hundred dollars ($300.00) for each opening in or excavation under any alley; and, if the opening or excavation is more than from the side to the middle of any street then the amount of the deposit shall be double. The nonrefundable deposit for each cut/opening across any sidewalk shall be fifteen dollars ($15.00) per lineal foot. The actual cutting of the portion of a street, sidewalk or alley, or the excavation under the same, will be done by the one obtaining the permit; however, it will be done under the supervision and inspection of the city through its streets and sanitation department, or anyone designated by the city, upon notification by the city clerk of the issuance of a permit for such work.
