§ 16-24. Redemption of vehicle.

  • Any person claiming to be the owner of any impounded vehicle, as in this article provided, shall make written application therefor to the chief of police and shall furnish said officer such additional proof as may be required to establish said ownership. If such person shall present to such officer said proof of ownership of the impounded property prior to the date of actual sale thereof pursuant to the provisions of this article, then the vehicle shall be delivered to said owner under the conditions herein provided; but if said property has been sold, then the chief of police shall endorse such findings of ownership with a copy of the written application addressed to the city clerk, and said owner may present said application and findings to the clerk; then such balance of the proceeds of sale, after deduction as in this article provided, shall be paid to said owner.
