§ 2-28. Oath and bond of mayor and council members.

  • Each person who shall be elected to the office of mayor or to the office of council member in the city shall, on or before October 1, of the year of the election, qualify by making oath that such person is eligible for said office and will execute the duties of same according to such persons' best knowledge and ability. Said oath shall be administered by the retiring mayor or by the city clerk. Each person shall give bond in the sum of five thousand dollars ($5,000.00) payable to the city, conditioned upon the faithful performance of the duties as mayor or council member, which bond shall be approved by the judge of probate of Colbert County.
