§ 2-51. Payment of interest upon warrants not paid for lack of funds; additional duties.

  • If no interest is stipulated to be paid on warrants drawn upon the treasurer and not paid for want of funds, then the legal rate shall be allowed from the time of presentation, which time shall be endorsed by the treasurer on the warrant with such officer's signature, but no interest shall be paid on such warrants after notice has been posted in the office of the treasurer or in the office of the mayor that such warrants will be paid on demand. The treasurer shall perform such other duties as may be required of such officer by the board of commissioners or by law.
